Are you ripe for a good time? -- June is Strawberry Festival month

Last Updated on Saturday, 26 May 2012 14:12

Here is a question for those who like the online polls: What’s your favorite June activity?

It would not come as a surprise if one of the answers was “attend Strawberry Festivals.”

Luckily for someone who likes dessert, each of our towns has its own such event, and much like the towns themselves, each one is different in character.

The Orange festival is the youngest, biggest and possibly busiest of them all. It is coming up Saturday, June 2, on the green in front of the Congregational Church. It is an all-day event, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with live music, vendors and games.

In Woodbridge, the Congregational Church on Meeting House Lane is hosting its 57th such festival on Friday, June 8, 6-8 p.m. Weather permitting there will be tables and chairs out on the green to sit around, chat and meet with neighbors and friends while the children run around the playground or play ball.

The grandfather of all strawberry celebrations is the one in Bethany. The First Church is hosting it Wednesday, June 13, for the 93rd time. Strictly speaking it is a Strawberry Supper, and comes with a full sit-down dinner. Seatings are at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
