Every year the Community Services Department for the Town of Orange organizes a gift-giving event for resident families and the elderly in Orange who are in need. The identities of our recipients are kept confidential for their privacy. The department seeks Orange residents to adopt one of the families or elderly residents or to donate whatever they can to help us out this year.
The families that participate are asked to send wish lists from their children to help sponsors with ideas for gift giving, whether it’s a toy, clothing, a book or gift card. The department also requests grocery gift cards for perishable items and decorated food baskets, containers, boxes, bags, etc. for recipients to help them with their food needs.

If there was a theme for the town of Orange’s swearing-in ceremony last Friday, it would have been the importance of family and community, and remaining loyal to one’s roots.
Surrounded by his young nieces and a nephew, Jim Zeoli took his oath of office on his family Bible for a third term as First Selectman. Zeoli was one of about two dozen elected officials sworn in before a packed house at the High Plains Community Center.
Zeoli, a Republican, beat Democrat challenger Trish Pearson for the office of First Selectman by 454 votes in the Nov. 3 election. Pearson received enough votes to obtain a seat on the Board of Selectmen.
