A National Historic Landmark, this 18th Century stone manor house contains primarily original furnishings from the Georgian and Federal periods. The manor house sits on the banks of the Croton River and is part of a working estate whose grounds include an 18th Century tavern and a reconstructed tenant house. The manor house kitchen is especially noteworthy for its original hearth, beehive oven and collection of cooking equipment and utensils. The gardens are planted with the flowers, vegetables and herbs that would have been available in the 18th Century. The manor is also home to the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze that features thousands of individually carved pumpkins which are on display during October. Tickets will be sold online, hudsonvalley.org, in the fall.
The manor is open May 28 to Sept. 5, Thursday through Sunday and Monday holidays, 10 to 5; weekends only, 10 to 4, November and December as well as Friday, Nov. 25 (last tour, an hour before closing). Admission and a tour is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $6 for children 5-17. A “grounds only” pass is available ($5 or $3) and includes access to picnic grounds; not valid for special events.
