Silvermine Guild of Artists

Pay a visit to the Silvermine Guild of Artists to see art works and artists at work. The Silvermine Guild Arts Center has been a gathering place for artists for more than 80 years, and has its roots in an early 20th Century artists colony whose leader was sculptor Solon Borglum. Membership in the guild is by invitation, but the arts center also includes many non-artists, young and old, who volunteer their time to further its goals. Guild members regularly visit area schools to work with art students and their teachers and there’s a Mentor Program that pairs artists with talented students. There are classes for children (as young as two, with a parent) to adults year ’round. There’s also a Summer Art Camp, for children as young as five to those up to age 17, in July and August. The 62nd Art of Northeast recently concluded; it was juried by Tom Eccles of Bard College. Now on view is the 21st Annual Juried Student Exhibition, which will run through July 21. The guild also offers a searchable online gallery of members' work.
