Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury is more than 100 years old, with 73 years of family ownership, but it’s still adding new things. Most recently, it’s the Free Fall ‘N’, a family drop-tower ride; coming is a wooden rollercoaster. The park on Lake Quassapaug, one of a few remaining “trolley parks” in the nation, caters to families with pre-teens, offering a blend of historic roots plus state-of-the-art attractions like the “Saturation Station” interactive family water play area. There are more than 20 kiddy and family rides as well as a redemption arcade, midway games, novelty food stands, and a restaurant.
Admission to the park is free; all-day wristbands (with "Saturation Station" included) are $23.50 for adults and $19 for kids, or individual ride tickets, $3.50, book of 12/$32, are available; there are charges to enter the Quassy Beach and water play area. The park is open weekends through early June and then daily through Labor Day (water activities open Memorial Day weekend); limited openings through early October. Throughout the season there are special events, with “3-D” fireworks on July 4.
Take I-84 eastbound to Exit 16, right off the exit and follow Rte. 188 to the Rte. 188/64 intersection (about 2 miles); take a left on Rte. 64 and continue one mile to park on right. For more information visit quassy.com or call 1-800-FOR-PARK.
