The Neuberger Museum of Art is the eighth largest university museum in the country. The modern building, designed by the firm of Philip Johnson and John Burgee, includes six viewing galleries, a museum store and exterior sculpture courts. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, 12 to 5. Admission is $5 for adults, and $3 for students and seniors, free for children under 12.
The museum has the only permanent collection of African art in Westchester County as well as modern and ancient art from the Roy R. Neuberger Collection. The current temporary exhibits are: Hans Richter: Taming Chance, whose post-World War I work evlved through Constructivism, Dada and surrealist film; Art in Cameroon: Sculptural Dialogues; and Besabeé Romero: Black Tears (Lágrimas Negras), works by a leading Mexican artist. Opening Sept. 24, Dana Schutz: If the Face Had Wheels.
Long-term exhibits include African Art and Culture: Selections from the Collection and Reframing American Art: Selections from the Roy R. Neuberger Collection, 1907-1980.
