FDR Library/Museum

Franklin Delano Roosevelt took office as President of the United States on March 4, 1933, at a time when nearly one in four Americans were jobless and four thousand banks had collapsed in the first two months of 1933. The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum in Hyde Park, N.Y., includes in its special exhibits displays that focus on aspects of the Roosevelt Presidency, most recently the founding of the Social Security Administration in 1934. Material was drawn fro the archivesof the Roosevelt Library and Museum and the archives of the Social Security Administration. The museum includes exhibits on FDR's early years and presidential years as well as his private study and an exhibit about Eleanor Roosevelt.

The library and museum is one of 12 presidential libraries administered by the National Archives and Records Administration; it is open 9 to 5 daily November through April; until 6, May through October.Admission is $14, which includes the FDR Mansion, administered by the National Park Service. When mansion tours are sold out, museum-only visits are $7.
