Boscobel Restoration; Shakespeare Festival

Boscobel Restoration is an acclaimed example of Federal architecture, which, thanks to the efforts of Lila Acheson Wallace, was preserved and restored. It is one of the country’s leading museums of Federal decorative arts. States Morris Dyckman began the mansion in 1804 and when restoration was completed in 1961, much of the Dyckman china, silver, and other furnishings were returned to their original home. Located in the heart of the Hudson Highlands,

Boscobel is home to the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, this year celebrating its 25th anniversary with evening performances from June 15 through Sept. 5 under a tent on the Boscobel lawn. Founding artistic director Terrence O'Brien has selected one of Shakespeare's greatest plays, Hamlet, and for contrast one of his earliest works, The Comedy of Errors, for this summer.

Boscobel is open daily, except Tuesday, 9:30 to 5, with the last tour at 4:15, April-October. In November and December, the mansion closes at 4.  Admission is $16 adults; $13 seniors; $8 children 6 to 14 (under 6 free); $40 family of four. Grounds admission is $9 and $5; $25 for famiy of four.
