Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum

The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, at 258 Main Street, Ridgefield, with no permantent collection, showcases upcoming artists in revolving exhibits. Founded in 1964 by designer Larry Aldrich, the museum started out in the 18th Century structure known as “Old Hundred,” now space for the museum’s administrative offices and recently enhanced by an expansive front porch facing Main Street.

Exhibits change semi-annually and center on a theme: the new shows opening June 26 focus on "Collaborations" and will be on view through Dec. 31: Chelpa Ferro: Visual Sound is the first U.S. exhibit by this Brazilian collective; Kate Eric: One Plus One Minus One comprises surreal landscape paintings; MTAA: All the Holidays All at Once is on display in the Sculpture Garden; Type A: Barrier and Trigger runs from inside to outside the museum; Jessica Stockholder: Hollow Places Court in Ash-Tree Wood includes the work of cabinetmaker Clifford Moran and printmaker Gary Lichtenstein; Judi Werthein: Do You Have Time? is a film that features David Kleinman in a two-hour single shot.

There are frequent programs for families and youngsters as well as adults.

The Aldrich Museum, 258 Main Street (Route 35), Ridgefield.The museum is open Tuesday-Sunday, noon to 5; admission is $7 for adults and $4 for seniors, students.
