One of the treats of summer and fall has always been locally grown produce. In recent years, their numbers have increased as people have sought out heirloom tomatoes and other prizes of the growing season.
Among the farmers’ markets expected to be in operation this season are:
Darien (municipal lot, Mechanic St.), Wednesdays, 11-6, through Thanksgiving;
Georgetown (4 Old Mill Rd.), Sundays, 10-2, May 29-Oct. 30;
Greenwich (Commuter Lot, Arch St.), Saturdays, 9:30-1:30, through Nov. 19;
Greenwich Historical Society Green Markets (39 Strickland Rd., Cos Cob), Tues., 9-3, Fri., 12-6;
New Canaan (Old Center School parking lot), Saturdays, 10-2, through Nov. 19;
Ridgefield (between Governor St. & Bailey Ave.), Fridays, 2-6, June 10 to October;
Weston (High Acre Rd., off Rte. 57), Saturdays, 9 to noon, June 11-Oct. 1;
Wilton (at Wilton Historical Society, 224 Danbury Rd./Rte. 7), May 25-Sept. 28;
Gossett's Farm Market (at Gossett Bros. Nursery, 1202 Rte. 35, South Salem, N.Y.), Sat., 9-1;

The Connecticut Department of Agriculture (ct.gov/doag and the New York Department of Agriculture (agmkt.state.ny.us) list farmers’ markets on their Web sites; there’s also the buyctgrown.com site, which has links to local growers.
