He never won an Oscar, despite two nominations. He rarely starred in a film, preferring, instead, to play the rich supporting part. And he never created a box office stampede that put him on top of a cinema pedestal. But when Dennis Hopper died last week, after battling cancer, he left behind a film legacy as rich as many a more honored performer. Hopper dared not only to defy conventional expectations but to redefine them. And, as a rebel throughout his career, he left an incredible collection of celluloid memories.
