After a successful premiere last August, the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for the second annual Restaurant Week which will run from Friday, Aug. 24, to Thursday, Aug. 30, with a kick-off "Taste of the Town Stroll" on Thursday, Aug. 23. Participating restaurants in Restaurant Week will feature prix fixe menus "that are designed to entice diners throughout Fairfield and Westchester Counties to visit New Canaan for lunch, dinner and shopping," said Tucker Murphy, chamber executive director.
The week launches with the Taste of the Town Stroll on Thursday, Aug. 23, from 6 to 9 p.m. A fund-raiser for the New Canaan Food Pantry, the stroll will collect donations for the pantry throughout the evening in exchange for a chance to win prizes. "Festive activities and culinary delights" will be available at each of the participating venues throughout town.
"We're planning a Taste of the Town Stroll event that will not only deliver needed canned goods for the Food Pantry, but will provide engaging activities throughout our village, as merchants and restaurants work together to make this a really fun event," said Murphy.
"As long as you make a pantry contribution, it's all free for the public. Better yet, we have lots of prizes that we'll give away at the end of the stroll." Restaurants participating in the week-long event will offer a choice of two price points for their featured two-course luncheon menus and three-course dinner menus. Prix fixe will be lunch, $10.12 or $15.12; and dinner $20.12 or $29.12.
"The chamber's marketing for Restaurant Week will promote both the restaurants and local merchants, with an array of marketing tactics that drive traffic into the stores before and after dining - benefiting all of New Canaan commerce," Murphy said.
