There’s always room for another Italian restaurant, as brothers Tony, Arton and Jeton Dakaj learned when they opened Per Tutti (meaning “for everyone”) in a Bethel shopping square on April 23.
The Dakaj family previously owned Albatrio, an Italian restaurant, on Amsterdam Avenue in New York City, and everyone had experience in other restaurants before Per Tutti opened in Bethel. Featuring 20 different styles of New York and Sicilian style pizzas and a reasonably priced full regional Italian menu, Per Tutti offers very generous portions.
Per Tutti chef is Carlos Marquez who is originally from Ecuador. Tony Dakaj, who has been making pizzas since he was 16 years old, is the pizza man, and each brother has his own food preparation talent.
At first glance on entering Per Tutti, you will see a well-equipped pizza shop, but a closer look reveals a door leading to a large dining room offering a complete regional Italian menu. There are some very intriguing gourmet pizza combinations; chicken marsala with mushrooms that I enjoyed; clams casino with onions and garlic in a red or white sauce; and a meat lasagna. Other baked dishes are manicotti, eggplant parmigiana and cheese ravioli. Chicken, eggplant and meatball parmigiana are available in calzones, and a stromboli makes its presence known at Per Tutti.
Generous house salads are served with entrees and other salads include Caesar, antipasto and feta cheese.
Broccoli rabe, sausage and white beans; eggplant rollantini; and calamari fritti are signature appetizers. A recent appetizer special was a smoked salmon platter garnished with capers, red onions and hard boiled eggs ($9.95)
There are generous offerings of chicken, veal, seafood and pasta entrees, among them, zuppa di pesce; veal per utti, egg battered boneless veal sautéed with spinach, garlic, mushrooms and baby shrimp in a sherry cream sauce; and chicken cacciatore. A special was stuffed pork loin with dried cranberries, mixed vegetables and bread crumbs served with French beans, mashed potatoes and a side of apple sauce ($19.95). Entrees are priced below $20, and are enough for another meal or two.
A children’s menu includes spaghetti with meatball, cheese ravioli, chicken tenders and french fries. Traditional desserts are tiramisu and cannoli. A ginger caramel sauce is added to both Chef Marquiz’ bread pudding and apple pie with vanilla ice cream.
You’ll have fun introducing yourself to Per Tutti.
