Senior news: Celebrate moms on May 6

The Shelton Senior Center offers classes, workshops and support to area seniors. The center is located at 81 Wheeler Street. Information: 203-924-9324. Some classes are for members only, others are for members and non-members alike.

Housing authority applications

Shelton senior housing applications are available at the center. Completed applications will be accepted from April 1 to April 30 at the Shelton Senior Authority at 187 Meadow Street. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:30-1:30.

Mother’s Day Party

Annual party to be held Friday, May 6, at noon. Lunch and music. The “Mother of the Year 2011” will be announced. Cost: $15. Tickets may be purchased in the Bingo Room on Friday, April 15, from 9:30 to 11 for Shelton/Valley members and 1 p.m. for all members.

The center has a special telephone number to call for daily announcements, cancellations and information, call 203-924-2355.

Emergency light flashers

The center provides flashing lights to help ambulance crews, police and firefighters locate homes more quickly in the event of an emergency. Supplies of the flashers are limited and available to Shelton residents only who are 55 and older. Information: 203-924-9324.
