Shelton students make dean's lists

Dean’s list at SCSU

The following students from Shelton were named to the fall dean’s list at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven: Rose Adamson, Laura Baker, Matthew Ballas, Sarah Breton, Kara Brighindi, Rachel Burns, Samantha Busa, Angel Cadena, Megan Carroll, Lesley Charles, Kristen Daniels, Diana DeBernardo, Sonia Deja, Gabriela Depa, Kyle Durkota and Scott Dwelle.

Also: Andrew Evans, Brittany Feller Robert Franco, Samantha Fresilli, Andrew Gecaj, Michael Gentile, Jorge Ghazal, Melissa Giaquinto, Christopher Gribok, Nicholas Guido, Nicholas Hafele, Roya Hagh, Carissa Havrilko, Cara Hodosi, Kaitlyn Hoffmann, Amanda Jennings and Jennifer Kaminski.

Schiff named student of the year

The 2010-2011 Practicum and Internship Student of the Year Award was awarded to Alyssa Schiff, a senior at Albertus Magnus College. She is the daughter of Michael and Patricia Schiff of Shelton. The award is based on students’ commitment to and performance in the field of Visual and Performing Arts.

Schiff was also the recipient of the Robert E. W. Eisele Fine Arts Trust scholarship. This award is based on academic achievement and the student’s interest in pursuing a career in the fine arts and visual communication field. She has received highest honors for the 2010 academic year as well.

 

At Johns Hopkins

Two residents were named to the dean’s list for academic excellence for the fall 2010 semester at The Johns Hopkins University. To be selected for this honor, a student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or more on a 4.0 scale in a program of at least 14 credits with at least 12 graded credits.

Baris Sevinc is the son of Burcin Sevinc and attended Hopkins School in New Haven. Sevinc, who is majoring in biomedical engineering, will graduate in May 2011.

Ryan Fay is the son of Robert and Kimberly Fay and attended Fairfield College Preparatory in Fairfield. Fay, who is majoring in computer engineering, will graduate in May 2011.
