State Senator Toni Boucher and State Rep. John Frey have endorsed the candidacy of John Palermo, a Republican school board member who is running for Board of Finance.
Their statement follows:
John is well qualified for this role. He is a as a seasoned IBM Financial executive (33 years) with certified financial officer, treasury, accounting, pension, and technology experience. He is also currently on the Board of Education for almost four years now. John is on the Boards Negotiation Committee, and chairs the Board’s Finance Committee, as well as the town and board’s Joint Energy Committee. John’s IBM experiences and leadership on the Board of Education position him uniquely to be on the Board of Finance. John moved to Ridgefield in 1977.While Serving on the Board of Education, we have seen how John has responded by leading in many areas, working on contract negotiations, new benefit plans, energy and bus savings, which have saved the town millions of dollars over several years. John has also been a huge supporter of full day kindergarten and moving money out of non educational area’s to fund educational programs.
The Town of Ridgefield has a budget of $124 million, $104 million of debt obligations and a pension trust fund of 54 million. We need a leader like John who has financial experience, local board experience, and who will pro-actively get ahead of issues, roll up his sleeves and solve problems to the benefit of all Ridgefielder’s.
The choice for voters is clear, which is why I am Endorsing John for Ridgefield Board of Finance.
