The Darien Parks & Recreation Department offers a variety of programs for the residents of Darien. Registration for programs takes place online at www.darienct.gov/parkrec, at the Parks & Rec office in Town Hall, or through the mail. For more information, call 203-656-7325.

Youth Programs
Tiny Tots Soccer: Blue Wave Kickers: Tiny Tots Soccer engages children in physical activity while developing their motor and basic soccer skills. Mommy & Me classes are offered on Monday and Friday mornings and classes for children 3-5. Jon Bradley, DHS varsity soccer coach will run this popular program. Classes start the week of Jan. 31. Future Stars Basketball: Future Stars Basketball Academy will be offering an instructional program for boys and girls 5-10 years old on Monday and Thursday afternoons from 4 to 5:30 at the Town Hall gym (parents can choose either day). This program will meet for eight weeks starting Jan. 3. The program fee is $199/session and each player will receive a Future Stars jersey.
Pee-Wee Tennis: Future Stars Tennis will be offering indoor pee-wee tennis lessons at the Town Hall gym starting in January. Lessons are held for children 3-5 years old on Monday mornings from 10-10:45 and 10:45-11:30. Lessons are also held Monday or Thursday afternoons in 45-minute increments from 12:15-3:15. Each participant will receive a tennis racket. Program fee is $115/participant. More info on Parks & Rec Web site.
Guitar Lessons: Want to be the next American Idol? Now’s your chance to get a start. Learn chords, scales, theory and, best of all, learn to play your favorite songs. Classes meet each Wednesday in the Town Hall small gym starting Jan. 5 through March 2. Beginners meet from 4 -5 or 5-6, intermediates meet from 6-7. This program is for children 8-15. The fee for this program is $199.
Adult Programs
Adult Paddle Tennis Lessons: Buddy Scudder, Certified Platform Tennis Professional, will be offering adult clinics at Weed Beach this winter. Instruction will focus on stroke production, strategy and teamwork with a mixture of high intensity drills, point-situation drills, technique work and match play. Clinics will run for nine weeks starting Jan. 3 on either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. The fee is $360 for these one-hour clinics. Pre-registration is required for these programs. Guitar Lessons: These group lessons will have you learning chords, scales, theory, and will teach you how to play your favorite songs. One-hour classes will focus on providing a high level of instruction in a fun, cooperative atmosphere. Program is for adults who have an interest in the guitar and music in general. Guitars will be provided for all students to use during their lessons. Rentals are also available. Classes are Wednesday evenings from 7-8, starting Jan. 5 and run through March 2 (no class Feb. 23). Program will meet in the Town Hall small gymnasium. Fee is $199/person.
Darien Sail & Power Squadron Boating Courses: The DSPS will be offering two separate boating courses starting the week of Jan. 10: Sail on Mondays and Basic Coastal Boating on Wednesdays. All classes are held at Middlesex Middle School with sail running from 7:30-9:30 and Basic Coastal Boating from 7-9:30. Sail runs through March 21 and Basic Coastal Boating will end on March 2.
