The senior center has a wide range of exercise alternatives to feel better, and get in shape. Join others 55 and older for:
Here’s the weekly schedule:
Mondays: Low Impact Aerobics at 10; Ballet at 11; Zumba at 12:30
Tuesdays: Sittercise at 10; Tai Chi at 11
Wednesdays: Yoga at 11; Ping Pong at 1

Thursdays: Pilates at 9; Jazzercise at 11:15; Senior fitness at 1 (a chair exercise)
Fridays: Dance for health at 9; Ballet at 11
Classes are drop in and cost $4 to $5.

A friend of Mother Teresa will speak at St. Thomas More R.C. Church in January. Donna-Marie Cooper O’Boyle, author and speaker, will be leading a Women’s Retreat on Saturday, Jan. 29, from 9-1, in the parish hall.
The retreat is open to all women in the community and will explore the challenges of our culture from a Catholic woman’s perspective.

A group of Darien mothers are organizing a Valentine-themed fund-raiser for the RE Children’s Project, founded by a Darien parent, on Saturday, Feb. 12, at Woodway Country Club.
Grace Wohlberg of Darien was diagnosed with Rasmussen’s Encephalitis, a rare neurological condition that impacts children, in 2008. The devastating condition causes incurable epilepsy, paralysis on half of the body, and cognitive decline.

The senior center is offering new art classes this month, starting with Arts Alive on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 10:30-noon.

This class is a window into the artists’ world to learn about their lives and their unique painting style. Come and explore the lives of famous artists such as Matisse, Monet, Picasso, Cassatt, and Cezanne. Then, learn about what it was that made their art and paintings unique.

Darien Library will offer story-time sessions in the winter and spring this year.
Registration for winter sessions ends Monday, Jan. 24. That session runs from Monday, Jan. 31, to Friday, March 11. Spring registration is open from Monday, Feb. 28, to Monday, March 14. That session runs from Monday, March 21 to Friday, April 29.

Each session is six weeks. Parents and caregivers may register online at darienlibrary.org/youth. Story time is tailored for children up to 6 years old.
