I am a candidate for the Board of Finance.
I grew up in Wilton, and then spent 25 years in Florida working in corporate finance. I returned in 2001 with my family to live in Ridgefield. My daughter and my two sons are all graduates of Ridgefield High School. For the past four years, I have been an active member and secretary of the Ridgefield Board of Education.

During the early stages of my campaign for the Board of Education, I have had many opportunities to hear the opinions and concerns Ridgefield residents have with regard to the state of education here in Ridgefield.
Be it through my petitioning process, various coffees, Board of Education and town meetings I have attended or just talking with people around town, I have heard from representatives of many demographics.

The recent survey of Ridgefield students (in which they are critical of the lack of respect shown them by adults), the recent death of a high school student, the prevalence of substance abuse/drinking, and the sheer exhaustion of students are evidence they are under real duress. We, as a community, must answer their plea.
I compare the workload current high school students endure versus my high school era (mid 70s), and it reminds me of my favorite comic strip, Doonesbury.

I am Jessica Mancini and am a candidate for the Board of Finance. My background and small business experience make me the best candidate for the BOF, and I deserve your vote on Nov. 8.
I am a lifelong resident of Ridgefield who attended Ridgefield Public Schools, and am married to Maurice Mancini with two children who attend Ridgefield Public Schools. My Ridgefield roots started in 1903 when my family emigrated from Italy.Page 9 of 13
