Second Congregational Church to hold book study Oct. 2

Second Congregational Church will hold a discussion of the nonfiction book Take This Bread: A Radical Conversion  by Sara Miles, on Sunday, Oct. 2 (World Communion Sunday), at 4:30 p.m. in the parlor of the church, at 139 E. Putnam Ave. in Greenwich. The Rev. Holly Adams, transitional senior minister, will lead the conversation. Refreshments will be served.

Preconception health is topic of seminar series

Greenwich based practitioners Dr. Yaron Seidman, founder of Hunyuan Fertility Center, and Teresa Bulit-Gordon, of Core Energetics, are among the 16 speakers in an upcoming eight-week seminar series to support preconception health.

This fall, Norwalk-based business Limitless Potential presents the Conscious Conception Seminar Series on Mondays Oct. 3-Nov. 21, 730 to 9:30 p.m. at the Total Life Care Center in Norwalk. Each week local and national experts will come to share integrative approaches to support preconception health. Women will discover new ways to release stress, create balance and promote overall well-being.

New Lebanon PTA seeks donations for tag sale

The New Lebanon School PTA will be holding an enormous tag sale fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organizers are seeking donations of assorted items, including housewares, clothing, electronics, jewelry, small furniture, holiday items, artwork, toys, games, sporting goods, collectibles, lighting supplies, musical instruments, and anything unusual, in good condition, and saleable.

Donations are tax-deductible, and can be dropped off at the front circle of New Lebanon School at 25 Mead Avenue on Tuesday, Oct. 11, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., and Thursday, Oct. 13, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Sometimes I think a life in politics is the best life possible for people prone to criminal behavior and illicit sex, especially in France and Italy, where every misdeed and indiscretion and felony is forgiven and forgotten.

A guy like Anthony Weiner, the disgraced New York congressman whose sexting proclivity led to his downfall, could be elected president in those countries — without even speaking the language. As it is, pretty soon he’ll have his own talk show or technology column in Maxim.

Then, there’s Dominique Strauss Kahn, aka DSK, aka the Great Seducer, aka Hot Rabbit, who allegedly chased the hotel maid down the hall and allegedly had sex with her, which may have allegedly been consensual, and faced charges for all sorts of sex-crimes and was sent to Rikers Island and then put under house arrest and was later released because the maid was allegedly a liar and con artist and maybe something worse.
