The Darien Chamber of Commerce sponsors a sidewalk sale each year, usually the first or second weekend in July. What is the Darien Gift Certificate?

The Darien Gift Certificate is a program to encourage shopping at local businesses in Darien. Gift certificates are available in varying amounts and may be used at participating chamber members. Is there a thrift shop in town?

The Darien Community Association Thrift Shop (655-4552) is at 996 Post Road, where it has stood since 1946. (The shop originally opened on West Avenue during the Depression.) The shop is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 to 4. Donations may be brought in during store hours. Clothing in season and furniture (pickup of small items may be arranged) are accepted. Everything must be in good condition. Proceeds support the association’s philanthropic activities and scholarship program. Tax-deduction slips are available. To volunteer, call 655-9050.
