Darien Players present ‘Laughter on the 23rd Floor’

The Darien Arts Center presents the Darien Players’ production of Neil Simon’s “Laughter on the 23rd Floor” on Oct. 30, 31, and Nov. 6, 7, 13, 14 at 8 p.m., and at 2 p.m. on Nov. 1 and 8.

Directed by Dan Friedman, the production features Deborah Burke, Geoffrey Gilbert, Peter Green, Paul Lenhart, Jeff Pliskin, Melissa Schleier, Brad Shwidock, Vic Terenzio, and Fred Tisch.

Inspired by the playwright’s youthful experience as a staff writer on Sid Caesar’s Your Show of Shows, with all the attendant comic drama as the harried writing staff frantically scrambles to top each other with gags while competing for the attention of star madman “Max Prince.” At the plot’s core is Max’s ongoing battles with NBC executives, who fear his humor is too sophisticated for Middle America. This play makes extensive use of mature language. Parents of children under 13 are cautioned.
