SBD Kitchens hosts Hôtel Silver benefit

SBD Kitchens of Darien is hosting a two-day event on Friday, Nov. 6 and Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 to 6, for its display of Ginger Kilbane’s Hôtel Silver collection. A wine and cheese reception will be held Thursday, Nov. 5, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. A $20 entry fee will benefit Person-to-Person.

In 1998, Kilbane launched Hôtel Silver at the Good Food Store in Darien. Just back from a trip to France, Kilbane presented a basket full of findings from the old Marais section of Paris, including vintage, silver tableware pieces from hotels, restaurants and cafés in Europe.

A display was set up with thick, white linens in an old glass front grocery case. People began visiting from other towns to buy the silver, and after a write-up in New York Magazine, the Hôtel Silver collection was launched at Bergdorf Goodman in New York City.
