Holmes School will transform into a winter wonderland of holiday fun on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 10 to 4, for its bi-annual fund-raiser. Profits from the fair support a variety of needs for the school over the course of two years.
The community is invited to kick-start the holiday season and peruse silent auction items such as a behind-the-scenes peak at the Bronx Zoo, a Mickey Mantle signed blueprint of Yankee stadium worth $6,000, a BMW bicycle, a puck autographed by Wayne Gretzky, courtside Knicks tickets, a fire truck ride to school and a weekend getaway to Vermont, and more.
Boutique vendors will be offering tea, jewelry, clothing, wine bags, various towels, customized compact discs (with child’s name incorporated into songs), hair accessories, decoupage, stationery, gourmet doggie treats, belts, bags and hats. Baked goods and wreaths will be offered for sale as well.
“We’re hosting a wide array of activities and games for the children including a caricaturist and a karate master who will do demonstrations and offer kids mini-lessons, “ said Lisa Schofield, co-chairman of the event. “The Sound Tigers mascot Storm will also be on hand to greet children.”
There will be an opportunity for children to visit with Santa Claus. “The idea is to create a entertaining environment for families to come out and spend some family time on a Saturday,” said Lianne Zielinski, co-chairman of the fair.
Silent auction items can be viewed at darienps.org/holmes/pto. Holmes School is at 18 Hoyt St., in Darien. For more information, contact Celeste Marsh at 656-1199.
