Drumming, dance program debuts at Mom's Morning In

Infinite Roots, a program geared toward introducing audiences to West African drumming and dancing, will be at Mom’s Morning In at the DCA on Friday, Jan. 29, at 10.

Infinite Roots focuses on performing arts, cultural music, and art and technology. It has been in existance for more than 60 years with performances throughout Fairfield County and the tri-state area. Part of the program is a highly-interactive drum circle that encourages play and movement to its rhythm.

Henry Jones is the founder and master drummer of Infinite Roots. Jones is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, is proficient in more than 13 instruments, and has been drumming and performing professionally for more than 25 years. Jones has produced CD-recorded projects for a number of area artists and recently completed his first solo CD project, “Heartland.”

Jones, whose art work has been on display at numerous venues throughout the East Coast, is under the direction and instruction of his godfather, Baba David Coleman, a Yoruba priest, world-class drummer and the godson of the late Chief Bey.

The fee is $8 per child. For more information, call 655-9050 or visit dariendca.org.
