Pauline P. Broome, a long-time Darien resident and a former resident of Ohio, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk. Mrs. Broome, 87, was the wife of the late Richard E. Broome for 51 years.Born in 1922 in Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Anna Cane and William Paterson.
Mrs. Broome graduated from Ohio Wesleyan in 1944, with a bachelor’s degree in education. She was a parishioner of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Darien. She worked as an office manager in market research for the Gene Reilly Group for 11 and a half years.
She is survived by her son, William P. Broome, and his wife, Jan, of Norwalk; and two grandchildren, Bonnie Anne Broome and William Carl Broome.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Blair Paterson, and her son, Robert E. Broome.
A memorial service was held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Chapel, 1864 Post Road, Darien on Monday, Nov. 2. Burial was on church grounds following the memorial service.
