Easton Community Center offers Yin Yoga workshop Saturday

The Easton Community Center (ECC) will host a Yin Yoga workshop Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m.

Yin yoga involves passively held floor poses, which are designed to open up the joints by lengthening the connective tissues like tendons and ligaments. The poses are held for three to five minutes to allow for this lengthening.

Two sessions to highlight the advantages of having college-bound students take the ACT will take place in early December.

The meetings, free and open to the public, will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1 and Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Easton Public Library, 691 Morehouse Road.

The Easton PTA and the Reflections Committee are asking all parents to encourage their children to enter this year’s Reflections competition.

The Reflections program provides a venue for students to creatively express themselves and be recognized for their interpretation of a pre-selected theme by submitting works in dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts.

   

Bluefish release 2010 season schedule

The Bridgeport Bluefish will begin their 2010 season at home on April 22 with a four-game series against the defending Atlantic League champion, Somerset Patriots.

The upcoming season will include 140 contests, with 70 of those at home at Harbor Yard Ballpark. Game times have not been released yet.

Hannah Dubner of Easton was inducted into Ithaca College’s Oracle Honor Society in November. The fall ceremony honors students who have completed their first semester ranked in the top 5% of their academic schools. Dubner, a musical theater major, is the daughter of Mary Jane and Peter Dubner.

Dealing with H1N1: Connecticut gets supply of pediatric antiviral drug

Connecticut has received 3,000 bottles of pediatric Tamiflu, an antiviral drug, to combat the H1N1 influenza among children.

“We continue to see a marked increase in the number of confirmed cases of the H1N1 virus in both children and adults,” said Gov. M. Jodi Rell.
