Community leadership camp during February break

The Easton Community Center is offering a winter version of community leadership summer camp. The camp will run during February break. It will start Monday, Feb. 20, and end Friday, Feb. 24.

It runs roughly from 9 to 4 p.m. (times may vary pending trip location). Fee: $325 for the week. Ages: 11 to 15 (limited spaces).

This week's version features trips to the Pez factory, bowling in Milford, Mount Southington for a ski trip and Dave & Buster's. Also, on Thursday, camp-goers will give back to the community with community service day.

9:15 — Decorative painting.

9:15 — Tai chi.

9:30 — Stamping.

Noon — Movie: Judge John Deed: Defense of Others. 

   

Father and daughter dance at Easton Community Center

The 8th Annual Father and Daughter Valentine Dance will take place on Feb. 10 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Children friendly appetizers, punch and ice cream sundaes will be served and are included in the ticket price. Each daughter will receive a valentine balloon. Please dress in party attire.

This event is one of the most popular offered at the Easton Community Center (ECC). Please register early so your daughter will not be disappointed. Call the ECC at 203-459-9700 to register.

Come to the Easton Community Center on Feb. 11 for the annual Mother and Son Valentine Activity Afternoon from 2:30 to 5. Make new memories, while experiencing quality bonding time with your son(s). Many additional activities will be provided, such as having your likeness caricatured and an obstacle course. Please dress in active wear. Also, pizza, salad and other refreshments will be served and are included in the ticket price. Please register early so your son(s) are not disappointed. 

   

Barlow Productions looks to expand resources

Barlow Theatre Productions (BTP), which is responsible for the major theatrical productions at Joel Barlow High School, is embarking on a new community outreach endeavor. On Wednesday, Feb. 8, the community is invited to attend an informational meeting with BTP in the Joel Barlow High School Library Seminar Room at 3:30 p.m. to discuss ways the theater department can become more visible to and engage new volunteers.

Parenting seminar at Easton church explores raising confident kids

Christ Church Easton will host a parenting seminar entitled "What Can You Bring?" presented by licensed family therapist and parenting coach Jeanne Rollins on Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Ms. Rollins will present a motivational talk intended to show parents that we don't ask enough of our children — preschool age through young adult — thereby depriving them of opportunities to become confident and accomplished contributors to their families and communities.
