Local teen Sam Weiser’s tour promoting the release of his first CD, “Sam I Am,” includes a Feb. 10 concert at Fairfield Theater Company’s Stage One.
The Sun erroneously ran the date as Feb. 12 in last Thursday's paper.
Lauded by the Boston Globe as “stunning,” the CD offers interpretations of songs by musical heavyweights such as Carlos Santana, Eddie Vedder, Sonia Rutstein and Mark O’Connor, and features musicians Lulo Reinhardt of the Lulo Reinhardt Project, and Dennis Chambers of Santana. For tickets to the FTC concert, visit fairfieldtheatre.org or call the box office at 203-259-1036. The theater company is on 70 Sanford St..
The Feb. 10 show includes Grammy Nominee SONiA, cello jazz prodigy Nathaniel Smith, Phoebe Hunt, Sara Caswell, Kyle Keggeris, Seth Kibel and Laura Cerulli.
All proceeds from Weiser’s CD sales are being donated to the Daniel Pearl Foundation and FODfest Inc., a non profit organization that organizes concerts honoring the life of slain journalist and violinist Daniel Pearl.
Weiser was a 2008/2009 recipient of the Daniel Pearl memorial violin.
He is the first Manhattan School of Music pre-college student to double-major in classical and jazz violin. Weiser studies classical violin with world-renowned educator Patinka Kopec, and jazz violin with Sara Caswell.
He won the 2009/10 National American String Teachers’ Association Alternative Styles Award for his improvisational skills.
Weiser attended the Mark O’Connor Fiddle Camps for seven years, and is one of the youngest ever Fishman endorsed artist.
