Bowl-a-thon starts this Saturday

There is still time for businesses to form teams and sign up for Junior Achievement's annual Bowl-a-Thon fund-raiser.

Pins will be flying at Nutmeg Bowl in Fairfield this Saturday, Nov. 7, then bowlers will lace up their shoes to compete at Lore’s Lanes in New Milford on Nov. 14.

Bowlers can have a good time while raising funds to support JA of Western Connecticut’s financial literacy programs.

This year’s Honorary Event Chair is Jeffrey P. Pino, president of Sikorsky Aircraft. Traci Morris, senior vice president of Cartus, is the general chairman.

"As chair of the Bowl-a-Thon, I look forward to working with local businesses and community leaders to reach our fundraising goal of $125,000,” said Pino. “Junior Achievement is an important organization that benefits thousands of local students. Our fund-raising efforts will help support the mission of teaching kids life skills necessary to enter the work force and have a brighter future."

JA students learn the basics of money management and financial literacy. JA programs teach how businesses work together in a global economy and why practicing strong ethics is important.

These students learn to become financially savvy, develop strong leadership skills, and become workforce ready so that when the time comes for them to take their place in society, they are prepared.

Those interested in participating should call (203) 382-0180 for details on how to sign up.
