Fairfield police assisted state police Feb. 4 in the arrest of Jordan Hawes, 32, who has an outstanding New York warrant out for his arrest on homicide charges.

The former Pink Sprinkles, Fairfield's first cupcake boutique has been renamed Pink Cupcake Shack, following an agreement reached with Sprinkles Cupcakes Inc. of California.

Two males wearing ski masks were witnessed entering a black car parked on the corner of Villa and Melville avenues and speeding away on Feb. 6 at 12:43 a.m., police said.

Sacred Heart University has named Murray Martin and Teresa Ressel to its Board of Trustees, the institution's top governing body.

Fairfield University will be hosting Herman's Hermits, starring Peter Noone, in a special Valentine's Day concert at 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

The State Department of Transportation announced that they will be removing trees which have been identified as potentially hazardous along the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield.

Fairfield First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced that the town has signed a $138,060 agreement with the United Illuminating Company to replace the 114 existing decorative lights along the Post Road in Fairfield Center with highly efficient LED lights, and to replace or repair existing poles and fixtures.

Third-degree robbery, second-degree larceny and third-degree assault on the elderly were the charges Jan. 27 against a Derby man.

Ricky Smith, 58, of 342 Derby Ave., was detained after officers responded to a reports of a Stop & Shop car-jacking at 1160 Kings Highway Cutoff, police said.

Bridgeport officers used their Tasers to subdue a suspect after he refused an order to stop and show his hands following a foot chase from Bridgeport into Fairfield Feb. 3 just after midnight.

School Supt. David Title has announced that effective July 1, Brenda Anziano will assume the position of principal at Riverfield Elementary School, succeeding Paul Toaso; and Frank Arnone will be the new principal at Osborn Hill Elementary School, succeeding Alan Lipman

The Fairfield Warde wrestling team took care of some unsettled business last week, including a win over town rival Fairfield Ludlowe, before coach Jason Shaughnessy's Mustangs began preparing for the FCIAC Championships this coming weekend at New Canaan High.
