Enjoyed a great meal at Southwest Cafe this evening, the quality of the food is second to none and they give you plenty of it. Super place with something for everyone on the menu. The best part - I fed three adults (drinks and desert too) just under $100.00

Thumbs up from me on SW Cafe also - a favorite lunch destination when my wife and I can steal an hour mid-day.

As a former long time customer, I have actually become disappointed in the changes that took place at the Southwest Cafe over the past year. Just like great television shows that have "jumped the shark", this restaurant did the same in 2010.

A complete overhaul of their menu, (presumably because of a new cook?), had forced unique trademark dishes off the menu almost entirely and when they are available, the changes to them indicate that their intentions were to take a new direction in presentation. I can not fault them from trying to keep things fresh or inject new blood in to a Ridgefield staple, but that is a gamble among the original clientele.

Three poor experiences of service in a row during 2010 made us regretfully leave for good. We were initially served margaritas, (by the way they do make THE BEST margaritas)after two requests over a thirty minute span without ice, without a lime, and with salt when we asked twice without it. We were then served chips and salsa after our entrees were half finished. (This was almost an automatic staple to your table being served as you were seated.)

Two out of three times, it was the same waiter who tarnished our dining experience, but it became apparent that the stars were no longer lining up at the restaurant that was our favorite for so many years. What a turnaround.

Basically, a great movie with a bad ending.

I have never been disappointed with the food. One of my favorite places in town. Service can be slow when they have full house though.

I love the Southwest cafe. The food has such great flavor. My favorite plates stayed on the new menu and I have enjoyed many of the new items.

Went there a few weeks ago with my Godson and we had fantastic meals. I also noticed that the menu had changed, but I don't think it had changed in a while. My first reaction to the new menu was the same as yours Geogie, perhaps there is a new chef. My favorite, shrimp with chipotle peppers, is still on the menu. This last visit I had the mojo shrimp; it was delicious.
Georgie, I'm sorry that you had bad experiences there, particularly since you were a regular and really enjoyed going there. We don't go there a lot but when we have gone, it's really been great.
