Cos Cob Library hosts Tellebration, a night of oral tales for a family audience, on Friday, Nov. 13, at 7:30. Storytellers Ann Shapiro and Peg Donovan will join students from Central Middle School to share stories and songs aimed to delight kids and parents alike.Tellebration is among the programs offered by The Connecticut Storytelling Center, based at Connecticut College in New London.
Ms. Shapiro has been entertaining children and adults with her participatory music and storytelling programs for more than 20 years. She is recommended by the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism as a teaching artist. An artist in residence in many Connecticut schools, she helps students and teachers to keep folk traditions alive by sharing the old stories and songs, followed by creating their own.
Ms. Donovan has told tales in many settings throughout New England, but her favorite venue is the preschool. With puppets and felt board in hand, Ms. Donovan brings stories to life for young audiences and a smile to the faces of those who remain young at heart.
