Students win 'good citizen' awards

Putnam Hill Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) honored the winners of the DAR Good Citizens award with a ceremony and tea hosted by the chapter at Putnam Cottage on Nov. 19. Winners are chosen for each of the five Greenwich High School houses by their housemasters and guidance counselors based on qualities of academics, leadership, service, dependability, and patriotism in their home, school and community. The award's committee was created by a resolution of the Continental Congress of 1934. The Good Citizen program is open to senior class students enrolled in accredited private or public high schools in good standing with the state Board of Education. The winners, receiving their awards, are, from left, Nicole Wheaton, Lucy Maude, Claire Kelly, Matthew Oswald and Stewart Wesley.
