French films are the focus of festival

The Alliance Francaise of Greenwich, in partnership with Purchase College , N.Y. will hold the sixth annual festival of French and Francophone film, “Focus on French Cinema 2010” that will run from April 9 to 11 at the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College, N.Y.

“We are very excited about the quality and diversity of Francophone films this year that will feature 12 newly released international premieres, a selection of innovative short films, a Saturday late-night thriller and more” said film festival founder Catherine Lamairesse. Oscar winners and internationally acclaimed guests will be on hand at the opening night gala hosted by Les Maîtres Cuisiniers de France and will also candidly contribute to the annual “Meet the Actors and Directors Breakfast.”

For the first time, a portion of the film festival proceeds will be donated to Action Against Hunger/ACF-USA , a global humanitarian organization that takes urgent action on behalf of distressed communities around the world, raises awareness about the effects of global malnutrition and provides sustainable access to safe drinking water.
