Here’s a little note to the non-believers in Connecticut. The Greenwich High School girls ice hockey team is state contenders this year.
Back on Jan. 16, the Cardinals battled perennial power and rival New Canaan at the Dorothy Hamill Ice Rink. Stunning the Ram fans in attendance, Big Red came away with a 2-1 victory. However, most thought Greenwich was lucky to get the victory and the Cards would get blown out in the rematch later in the year.

The Greenwich High School boys and girls ski teams are making a strong push towards the postseason.
Yesterday at Mount Southington, the GHS girls team went 3-0 on the afternoon while the boys squad finished with three wins and only one loss Wednesday.

In a game that was dubbed one of the biggest to ever take place at the Hartong Rink, all the hype was backed up by the Brunswick ice hockey team.
This season, the Bruins made the jump to Division I hockey, which meant upgrading the program by playing a bunch of the elite hockey programs in the Northeast. None bigger than Monday afternoon, when defending New England champions Salisbury School came into town.

When head coach Bill Brehm took over coaching the Greenwich High School boys basketball team, the program was looking for stability.
Fast forward four years and that’s exactly what the Cardinals have become.
Although Tuesday night’s victory against Fairfield Ludlowe High School wasn’t the prettiest, winning 45-42, the win gave Big Red its eighth win and fourth consecutive CIAC class LL touranment appearance.

Brunswick School’s Zach Lynch goes hard to the basket during Monday afternoon’s meeting against King Low-Heywood Thomas School. Although the Bruins beat up on King earlier in the season, winning by 17 points back on Dec. 16, the Vikings were the more motivated team Monday afternoon, beating Brunswick 51-46. Brunswick’s Max Barrett led all scorers with 24 points. He also drained a game-high five 3-pointers in the losing effort. Teammate Phil Pierce added 11 points and Billy Murphy finished with nine points. For King, Jabrille Williams finished with 19 points and had three 3-pointers in the game. Tre Tipton pitched in with 17 points. With the loss, Brunswick fell to 10-8 overall and 8-2 in the Fairchester Athletic Association. King improved to 5-5 in the FAA. On Saturday afternoon, the Bruins will look to return to its winning ways with a game against Masters at 2 p.m. — Paul Silverfarb photo

On Sunday, Dec. 6, the Skyliners Synchronized Beginner Skating team skated a gold medal performance at Terry Conners Rink in Stamford.
Competing against three other teams in its category, the Skyliners team was the unanimous first-place choice of the five competition judges.Page 1 of 2
