Although the Greenwich High School volleyball team lost to perennial powerhouse Darien High School in Saturday afternoon’s Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship game, it’s hard for head coach Steve Lapham to be upset about the defeat.
Playing tough throughout the game against the Blue Wave, Greenwich, seeded third in the FCIAC tourney, fell in the first game 25-16 and took a 25-12 loss in the second game. In the third game, Greenwich trailed 10-0 early before finally falling 25-17. Despite the outcome, Lapham said he couldn’t be happier for his team.
