Sara Ann Leo of Ludlow, Vt., a former resident of Suffield and Rowayton, died at her home Friday, June 19, of cancer. She was 55.
She was the granddaughter of the late Charles and Bertha Leo of Danbury, then Bronxville, N.Y., and long-time summer residents of Rowayton, Bell Island, and a niece of Susan Leo Bouton and William Bouton, formerly of Darien, now of Savannah, Ga. Known as “Sally,” Ms. Leo was born in Hartford on March 5, 1954, to John Patrick Leo III of Suffield and Elaine Dale Piper Whitelaw Leo, now of Ludlow.

Rita Cross of Port Jervis, N.Y., a long-time resident of the area, died Tuesday, June 23, at Bon Secours Community Hospital. She was 95.
Mrs. Cross was born March 4, 1914, in White Mills, Pa., the daughter of the late Joseph Laurence and the late Alice Minerva Dorflinger Beilman. In 1922, she moved to Port Jervis at the age of eight with her parents. On May 19, 1940, she married the late Francis “Bud” Cross, who died on April 30, 1990. In 1935, Mrs. Cross graduated from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Port Jervis, where she also worked for many years. She also worked as a nurse for Dr. Clare Kenney.

John T. Leatham, a former long-time Darien resident who had a long career in the health care industry, died Friday, June 19, after a long illness. He was 72. Mr. Leatham was the husband of Sheila Andersen Leatham of Anderson, S.C. Known as “Jack,” Mr. Leatham was born July 4, 1936, in Chicago. A graduate of Lawrence University, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a first lieutenant and was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal.

Duncan Wyman Rae died Friday, June 12, at Mesa Vista of Boulder, Colo., after a long illness. He was 64. Mr. Rae began his life in Indianapolis, Ind., on January 25, 1945. He graduated from University School in Bloomington in 1963, attended Murray State University in Kentucky from 1964 to ’65, was a helicopter pilot with the US Army 17th Air Cavalry from 1966 to ’70 and received the Distinguished Flying Cross and a Purple Heart and for his service in Vietnam.

Edwin J. Deadrick, a 50-year resident of New Canaan, died Friday, June 19, after a brief illness. He was 84. Mr. Deadrick served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, flying B-17 bombers in the European theatre. Following his military service, he attended Brown University, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree. He later received a master of business administration degree from Harvard University. Mr. Deadrick spent much of his business career with the American Bank Note Company in New York. He was executive vice president of that company when he retired.

Elizabeth “Betty” Goulet Reifers, a longtime resident, died Monday, June 15, at her home in New Canaan. She was born December 10, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., daughter of the late Lynn Joseph Goulet and Myrtle Breen Goulet.

C. Coleman “Cole” Fisher died Wednesday, June 10, at Waveny Care Center. He was 84. Born and raised in the Midwest, Mr. Fisher attended the University of Iowa, the California Institute of Technology and SUNY-Buffalo.

Mary B. Long, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, loyal friend, music lover and avid gardener, died Wednesday, June 10, at Norwalk Hospital. She was born on January 15, 1933, in Mount Kisco, N.Y.

Louise Emerson Howe died Tuesday, June 16, at Meadow Ridge in Redding. She was 94. Born in New Britain and raised in Kensington, she entered nursing school in 1932 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Becoming a registered nurse in 1935, she took a teaching position at the Robert Brigham Hospital.

Agnes Maria von Rechberg Risom, formerly of Roslyn Harbor, N.Y. died on Tuesday, May 19, at Stamford Hospital, of complications related to a stroke she had suffered four days earlier. She was 87. Mrs. Risom was born in Munich, Germany on October 10, 1921.
