Local land trust invites accreditation comments

The Redding Land Trust has announced that it is applying for accreditation by the Land Trust Alliance, an umbrella organization for land trusts nationwide.

The alliance recognizes land conservation organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places. The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs.

As part of that review, the commission invites public input and accepts signed, written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to how the Redding Land Trust complies with quality standards that address the ethical and technical aspects of a land trust. For the full list of standards see www.landtrustaccreditation.org/getting-accredited/2009-indicator practices.

Comments may be faxed or mailed to the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, Attn. Public Comments (fax) 518-587-3183; (mail) 112 Spring Street, Suite Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Comments on the Redding Land Trust’s application may be submitted to the above address between July 1 and Sept. 1, 2009.

For further information, see the Redding Land Trust’s Web site, www.reddingctlandtrust.org.

“If you are a friend and supporter of the Redding Land Trust, we appreciate your participation and send you our thanks in advance,” the land trust said in its release. {sharethis}
