The New Canaan Mounted Troop recently recieved private funding for a new geothermal heat pump to be installed to its renovated stable, grounds and facilities on Carter Street. The troop hopes the pump — which will use natural heat from the earth and groundwater to heat and cool the new barn — will set an environmental example in the community, according to a press relase. Pictured, from left, are: Elizabeth Tobin and Michelle Schmertzler, treasurer and president of New Canaan Mounted Troop, and Diane Bredehoft and Heidi DeWyngaert, vice president and president of The Bank of New Canaan. The bank is financing the renovation project.
