Winter storm bears down on Trumbull

The National Weather Service has upgraded its forecast to a winter storm warning for Trumbull and the rest of Fairfield and New Haven Counties, predicting significant snowfall, gale force winds and near winter conditions throughout Wednesday.

Snow is predicted to begin falling late Tuesday and become heavy during Wednesday, tapering off Wednesday night and ending early Thursday morning.

The Weather Service advises against traveling unless absolutely necessary and to keep a flashlight and extra

 

Tax relief programs enrolling now

The Trumbull Tax Assessor’s Office is accepting applications for tax relief benefits through May 14. The Tax Assessor’s Office is open between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Social Services is available for scheduled appointments as well as home bound visits and can be reached at 203-452-5198.

Homeowners on the tax relief program, who are due to renew with their 2009 income have received renewal reminder letters in the mail.

The state and town tax relief programs are based on age, residency and income qualifications. The town income limit is $61,000. New applicants are welcome.

NEW: Norwalk man found safe after intensive search

A Norwalk man who went missing in the Wesley Drive area of town has been found safe, police said Saturday afternoon.

The man, 20-old- Robert Everett, disappeared in the vicinity of Wesley Drive Friday. He may have been gone as early as Wednesday because police only became aware of the situation when a homeowner reported

Trumbull police plan to call off their day-long search for Robert Everett shortly, according to spokesman Shawn Sember.

Everett disappeared in the vicinity of Wesley Drive. He may be wearing a brown UPS jacket and is not considered a threat to others, police said.

Environment group gives Himes perfect score
