Homebuilders honor Ridgefield inspector William Reynolds

The Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Fairfield County has awarded its “2010 Building Official of the Year” to William Reynolds, building official for the town of Ridgefield.

The association said the award acknowledges “the important relationship that home builders have with local building departments.”

Mr. Reynolds, who has worked for the Ridgefield Building Department for 20 years, was honored at the association’s annual Building Officials Night on Wednesday, Feb. 3, in Darien.

Fairfield Prep reports first semester honors have been awarded to 12 Ridgefielders. Summa Cum Laude: Jack R. Gibson, Owen J. Gibson, Andrew R. Passarelli, Carter L. White. Magna Cum Laude: Nicholas A. Martinez, Daniel C. Passarelli. Cum Laude: Ethan A. Doerger, Russell L. Gough, Timothy J. Hagan, Walker W. Haynes, Nicholas C. Vandervoorn, and Cameron P. Zuckert.

Briana Leigh Kresic, Class of 2010 at Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y., has been named to the president’s list for the fall 2009 semester, her second semester on the president’s list for her high grades. She has also been named to the dean’s list for two semesters. Ms. Kresic majors in history with a minor in biology and is the recipient of the Siena Franciscan Scholarship. She is the daughter of Maryjane and Mladen Kresic.

 

Joanne Roberts elected to Women's Center board

Joanne Roberts of Ridgefield was recently elected to a three-year term on the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury’s Board of Directors.

Ms. Robert earned three master’s degrees in genetics/genetic counseling, business administration/health care management and human resources/labor relations. She worked at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, Danbury Hospital and Ability Beyond Disability in Brookfield before retiring from the business world in 2001 when her daughter joined their family.

This summer Ms. Roberts and her husband of 18 years, radiologist Dr. Stuart Roberts, will become grandparents. She and Dr. Roberts, who have three grown sons, live in Ridgefield with their eight-year-old daughter.

   

Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce honors VNA, Nita Mohler, and Dee Strilowich

The Ridgefield VNA, Nita Mohler, and Dee Strilowich were honored at the Chamber of Commerce’s first annual Inaugural Luncheon Friday, Jan. 30, at La Chateau.

About 150 people attended the event, which included installation of officers.

Keynote speaker was Mike Critelli, retired executive chairman at Pitney Bowes, who shared current practical business success stories to help businesses today.

Chamber Choice Award was won by the Visiting Nurse Association of Ridgefield.

 

Young harpist receives Nierenberg Commendation

Noelle Farmer, an eighth grader at Scotts Ridge Middle School and a member of the Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra, received the Roger Nierenberg Commendation Award on Jan. 17 for her musical accomplishments on the harp.

The award, sponsored by the Stamford Symphony Orchestra, is intended to encourage eighth grade musicians to continue in their music studies.
