The Middlesex Genealogical Society will hold a program meeting on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 2, at the Darien Library.
Lloyd Sturges Jr. will present a program, A Walk Through the New FamilySearch.org.

There will a discussion on the changes to FamilySearch.org genealogy Web site. The old site has had a pilot program which had features for researching your ancestors. The new program has updated information and will give you a richer experience for searching your ancestors.

UPDATE FRIDAY 11:20 AM — Mom's Morning In canceled Jan . 28.
A local favorite, musician Dre Towey will perform at Mom’s Morning In on Friday, Jan. 28, at 10 at the Darien Community Association, 274 Middlesex Road.

Towey is a former elementary teacher and art educator. Her music resonates of her experiences with children and her lyrics touch upon a range of subjects from the dog across the street to the experience of losing a balloon.
The fee is $10 per child.
The Darien Community Association is a not-for-profit organization that provides educational, cultural, recreational and civic programs, generates funds for scholarships and other philanthropic works within the community, and maintains its historic home as a community resource.

The Darien Library’s second annual Independent Film Series ends this Friday at 7: 30 with a documentary about Philadelphia teacher who turns kids into responsible students and capable cooks.
The library has hosted screenings in the community room each Friday this month. Last year, the library tried an experiment and dedicated its Friday Night Film Series to screening the indies, and the limited-release films were a success with audiences.
