The stories in Ridgefield High School’s news magazine spring from lively after-school discussions in room G133, aided, in part, by an enormous bowl of candy.
The Tiger’s ROAR, once known as The Voice, is the school’s student news magazine, covering school issues, events and achievements. The staff of more than 20 students is responsible for choosing story ideas, reporting, writing, editing, and layout — as well as selling advertisements. The magazine is published about six times a year.
Classified as a school club, The Tiger’s ROAR is an impressively serious operation for a high school publication. Sharing a classroom with the school’s yearbook and literary magazine, The Tiger’s ROAR staff writes for its audience and knows that the magazine is pretty popular with students, whether to see a photo of their friends, to read an eye-catching cover story on cheating, or simply to use the pizza coupons on the back.
