When both sides in the pending corruption trial of Shelton developer James Botti meet in federal court at New Haven on Thursday, the judge will hear oral arguments to decide what evidence will be allowed, including some involving the still unofficially identified Public Official #1.
That public official has been rumored to be Mayor Mark Lauretti, although he has not been charged with any crimes, and steadfastly maintains he has done nothing illegal or wrong.
In a government motion to be discussed Thursday, prosecutors say they will offer into evidence tape recordings of the June 13, 2006, and June 20, 2006, Planning & Zoning Commission meetings. The recordings, say prosecutors, will show that the P&Z on June 13, 2006, “indicated preliminarily [by a 4-2] vote that defendant’s 828 Bridgeport Ave. development project not be approved.” They say that at the June 20, 2006, meeting, however, it won approval by a similar vote.Shelton Youth Soccer invites all school age children to play soccer.

I saw a video clip of a recent exchange on the Fox New Channel between program host Stuart Varney and actor Ed Begley Jr. that suggests how the world will end.
The segment focused on some e-mail messages in which scientists in the U.S. and England discussed manipulating climate data to obscure that global temperatures have gotten cooler on the average over the last eight to 10 years, not warmer as in the previous decades.
Varney started the discussion by asking Begley if he ever thought he was wrong about global warming, especially in light of these e-mails.
Since Varney is a conservative and a global-warming denier, and Begley is a liberal and an environmental activist, it was preordained how this would turn out. “Discussion” is a misnomer for it. In no time, the two men were shouting over each other, neither interested in what the other said, both trying simply to drown out the other.
