Students to participate in AIDS benefit

Several local students will participate in Little Fig Stage's presentation of The Music of Hope, a benefit concert for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids at The Players Theatre in Manhattan. Performances will take place on Saturday, May 16 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, May 17 at 3 p.m.

The benefit will feature an all-teen cast with special guests from the professional theatre community and 20 new songs from a variety of composers and lyricists including Tony Award-winner Robert Lopez of Avenue Q, Tom Kitt and Amanda Green of High Fidelity, and Kim Oler and Alison Hubbard of the 2005 Broadway musical Little Women.

The cast will feature John Jay Middle School students Alec Beresin, Lauren Ciubotaru, Margot Hughes, and Keely Bochicchio-Sipos, John Jay High School student Maya Felder, Katonah resident Chloe Coletta, and Cross River resident Lara Manbeck. Encore Dance Arts, a Westchester-based dance company, will also perform during the benefit. The company includes Samantha Brown and Hailey Sauerhoff of Katonah. The benefit will be directed by Marci Elyn Schein, with choreography by Megan Hawkins and musical direction by Michael V. Ficocelli.
