Red Ribbon Week starts Monday

Next week, Oct. 26 to 30, the Katonah-Lewisboro School District’s Substance Abuse Task Force will once again celebrate the annual Red Ribbon Week event to promote a drug-free lifestyle. Begun in 1985 to honor a drug enforcement agent killed while undercover in Mexico, Red Ribbon Week includes events at every grade level. John Jay Middle School and High School students will display red ribbons, as will all of the buses in the district. Elementary school students will receive stickers with drug-free messages. John Jay students and faculty will together create “reality walls,” where they can anonymously post their interactions with alcohol and drugs. Information: Jessica Fulton at John Jay Middle School, 763-7669; Kiri Ryan at John Jay High School, 763-7203.
