Katonah-Lewisboro bus drivers Nancy Laedke and Steve DiGangi placed high enough in 32nd annual Lower Hudson school bus “Roadeo” on May 1 to go on to the state competition in July. Ms. Laedke placed first in the van competition, while Mr. DiGangi placed second in the transit bus competition.
Four other drivers from Katonah-Lewisboro competed: Steven Hill placed sixth in the van division; Nelly Hernandez placed fifth in the transit division; Martin Rojas placed fourth in the transit division; and Radcliff Barckley placed 10th in the transit division. The Roadeo begins with a written test and pre-trip inspection of the buses before drivers take their vehicles through a ten-event obstacle course, which includes turning, backing up, parallel parking, and serpentine driving. The state event will take place on July 10.
