Wolbrom founds criticism Web site

John Jay High School student Sophia Wolbrom has created a new Web site, Kids As Critics. The site allows kids and teenagers to discuss culture, ideas and the arts and offer criticism of the worlds of theater, music, movies, games, books, comics, food, art, fashion, politics, sports, and more.

Kids As Critics started out as a summer project with Sophia’s father, and over the past year has morphed into a full-blown community blog.

The blog allows registered children between nine and 18 to post and comment on various topics related to culture. Children who post frequently may become “featured critics” or be assigned greater responsibility as moderators. In order to keep the site “safe,” the children’s screen names are kept anonymous, no personal information is exchanged, and adults are not allowed to post.
