For the first time in 15 years, the Katonah-Lewisboro School District is preparing to change its elementary science curriculum.
District administrators recommended a new program for kindergarten through fifth grade — Science and Technology Concepts (STC) — at the school board meeting on Thursday, May 3, that they said would improve an outdated approach to the scientific method and teach processes that more accurately resemble techniques used by scientists.
The John Jay boys lacrosse team is back in the section championship game for the ninth year in a row, as the Indians smothered Somers 9-3 in the Section 1 Class B semifinals on Thursday night in Cross River.
John Jay (12-6) plays Yorktown in the section finals next Wednesday at White Plains High School. The Huskers (14-4) beat Rye, 14-7, in the other semifinal.
Dan Lobosco and Tommy Beck each had three goals for the Indians, with other goals by Andrew Duffy, Matt Ferentini and Doug Brown.
