With seven sophomores and freshmen making up more than half of the roster, the John Jay girls basketball team was expected to take some time to put all the pieces together.
The question was whether that work would be completed before the schedule ran out.
By winning six of its final seven regular-season games, including five in a row to end the season, the Indians were able to answer that question convincingly.
“It was not a bad way to end the year,” said coach Chuck Scozzafava, whose team finished at 10-9 after an overtime loss to Our Lady of Lourdes in the first round of the Section 1 Class AA playoffs.
