Town Supervisor Candidates |
| Five questions for the candidates (Oct. 22, 2009) | |
Edward Brancati(D, WF) |
The incumbent Town Supervisor for the past two years, Mr. Brancati had previously served as an assistant to Vice President Al Gore and Congresswoman Nita Lowey. During his tenure as supervisor, Mr. Brancati has overseen the town during a catastrophic economic crisis, while working on town projects including improving cell coverage, water quality and water and sewer treatment plants, and reaching compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. He has listed a number of accomplishments in his first term as supervisor, such as moving forward with plans to increase cell service in Cross River and Vista, working with the Lakes Committee on stormwater projects, and adopting the emergency management plan. |
Charles Duffy(R, C, I) |
A registered Conservative, Mr. Duffy is a certified public accountant who has earned a master's degree in business administration from Clarkson University. He has worked in finance for the past 18 years, serving as controller of a $100-million real estate investment firm and CFO of several financial investment firms, and has emphasized his financial expertise as his biggest strength in running the town. He has called for the establishment of accurate revenue projections and the exploration of new sources of revenue to keep taxes from increasing, before focusing on other issues before the town. |

| Four questions for the candidates (Oct. 15, 2009) | |
The only Town Board incumbent running for re-election, Mr. DeLucia has been a supervisor at the Westchester County Health Department for 15 years. In his four years on the board, he says he has worked with Democrats while remaining a "vocal, vibrant Republican." Mr. DeLucia has been a strong advocate of the town's Parks & Recreation Department, working on many projects including the Little League press box and the renovation and expansion of the town pool complex. His opposition was a large factor in the town declining the county Legacy proposal, which would have required additional town spending, and he has been a vocal critic of the town's stringent wetlands laws. |

While not on the ballot, Mr. Goett, an unaffiliated voter, has been endorsed by the Lewisboro Democratic Committee as a write-in candidate. A member of the town's Parks and Recreation Advisory Council and the Leon Levy Preserve advisory team, Mr. Goett is a facilitator and manager at IBM, where he has worked for more than 30 years. A graduate of West Point, Mr. Goett has served as an officer in Army special operations psychological operations. He has said that his experience in the military and in the business world would help him to lead and to handle the town's budgets. |
A trial lawyer and lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve, Mr. Kelly has served a 12-month tour in Iraq, leading more than 6,000 soldiers in the notorious "Triangle of Death" area of Iraq. Mr. Kelly has stressed the importance of practicing fiscal discipline and protecting the town's assets, including town character, open space, recreational space, and bodies of water, while demonstrating a respect for homeowner rights. He has said he could "add some dynamism to the approach to solutions" by using "a little more thinking out-of-the-box, divergent approach to problem solving." |
An economist and member of the town Planning Board, Ms. Maguire has identified managing the town through the recession as the overriding issue facing the board. She describes herself as a "respectful listener, communicator, and collaborator," and wants to create a an "environment of mutual respect and teamwork" on the board. Ms. Maguire was on the team that created a series of proposed wetlands law revisions earlier this year, and says she is "sensitive to the many infrastructure issues that the town is facing, such as water quality and senior/affordable housing." |
