Secret officially made Lewisboro police chief

Lewisboro has a new chief of police, and the retirement of former Chief Drew Marchiano and the elevation of Chief Frank Secret is likely to save the town about $100,000 a year because of the consolidation of their two positions. Chief Secret’s salary was negotiated to be $100,000 per year, plus a $3,300 longevity bonus in December of each year. He was officially appointed the town’s chief of police at the Town Board meeting on Thursday, Oct. 15, about two weeks after Chief Marchiano’s retirement.

“It is an honor and a privilege to make this appointment,” said Town Board member Peter DeLucia at that meeting. “You have done a phenomenal job as youth officer and we know you will do equally well as chief of police.”

Chief Secret’s salary is slightly lower than Chief Marchiano’s budgeted $104,000 salary, and higher than the $85,000 Chief Secret made as a sergeant, although as a sergeant, he was eligible for overtime that could have brought his net pay as high as $100,000. He also receives full health and dental insurance, both of which were carried over from his previous contract as sergeant.

A 26-year officer in Lewisboro’s police force, Chief Secret was made the town’s first full-time youth officer in 2001, and was promoted to sergeant in 2006. As youth officer, he spent a majority of his time on the job at John Jay High School. Although he has been promoted to chief, he is to remain performing the duties of youth officer, and is likely to split his time between police headquarters and the high school.
